This picture is fake. And known by all.

Oh, such silliness! Anyone who knows the city and knows anything about where the planes hit the buildings could spot this fake from kilometres away!

Anyone knows that WTC Towers weren’t receiving tourist at that hour…

This image should really pose no trouble in concluding it to be a fake. Anyone who has ever lifted their heads to the sky at the sound of far away plane, should know instantly how loud these machines really are. For this, there is no reason the man in the image, nor the photographer, could not have heard the jet approaching at such a proximity (assuming both were not hard of hearing, of course). Also how could someone not take notice peripherally of such an out of place object of such size as a passenger jet. Surely the photography wasn’t in such a state of present, un-related anxiety not to come victim of his own peripheral attentiveness…

Its been thoroughly debunked. Not the same type of plane that hit either tower. This man is standing on the roof of the tower that was hit with the second plane, so the sky should be filled with smoke. Visitors weren’t allowed on the roof at that time of day. 80 or 90 very solid reasons to know this is a fake. Gee, if I send in a picture of me standing next to Elvis with me holding today’s newspaper, will you publish it as proof that Elvis is Alive? When you post fake 9/11 photos like this, you’re no better than the people who say we never went to the moon, and the US Government flew the planes into the WTC.

As far as I can tell this is a FAMOUS photos site not an accurate pictures site it is a valid entry even if it is distasteful.

i suppose this image has a place among “famous photos” despite it being in bad taste, but I’d remove the line in the description about it winning “a best 9/11 Photoshopped picture contest”. First, i can’t find any substantiation of that anywhere online, and second, the idea of a 9/11 photoshop contest is beyond inappropriate.

the first thing i noticed when i looked at that picture was that its not a bright day, on 9/11 there wasnt a cloud in the sky when the planes hit and it was really bright out

If they had taken a photograph and then ran like the wind, could they have had a chance of survival and possibly come out with a genuine picture similar to this fake?

I would be looking at the plane in terror if I was that guy. Seriously, look behind you dude. Or is this maybe a fake? Maybe the guy sent the photo through his 2001 Blackberry after he downloaded it from the digital camera. It could have happened.

I think it’s funny that you people consider it to be one of the worst days in the world. They are far worse things happening everyday and one slightly significant event destroys two buildings and tons of lives in America does not make it bad. We deserve what we get for all the things we do to everyone else in the world.

Not only is it fake, but it is RIDICULOUSLY fake. How could that win a Photoshop contest? I 5 year old who has never used Photoshop could do a more realistic layering job that than.

I can’t believe no ones mentioned the most obvious flaw in this picture. This isn’t even the same type of aircraft as the ones that crashed in the WTC. The fake aircraft in this picture is a Boeing 757, whereas BOTH aircraft that crashed in the WTC were 767s. The guy that made this picture really didn’t bother making it look real.
