God/Allah help us all, to never have to make that choice.

i can only hope that they all “passed” before they hit the ground…or as David said “God caught them”.

I love this photo. I just saw the special on TV about Jonathan Briley, the Falling Man, and even though it happened years ago, it still makes me cry. I love this photo because it shows me a brave individual who decided to take control of the last few minutes of his life. I love him for that and I love this picture. I raise my glass to Jonathan and to all those who lost their lives that terrible day. They live forever in our hearts.

Ugh, I was only 12 when this happened - I remember my teacher coming into the room after recess and telling us what happened. I didn’t really know the reality of it. But I just watched the Falling Man, and now have a sense of how horrible it actually was. RIP Johnathan. You were courageous and brave to make the decision you did. Nothing was any of the “jumpers” faults.

i agree with some of you. but people why bother debating over something already come and gone? heres plain facts for you. he most obviously did not jump out willlinging. the man is most probably dead by now. the september 11 accidents are past. the world still is full of idiots who shoot and bomb people. we all know he was not the only victim. and we all should feel sorry for all those who lost someone beloved to them during it. but for now, the photo still remains. it suspends a moment in time right before death. all we can hope for is that all who see it know the horror that the man experianced and will for everyone to prevent such things happening again.

People like Switzerland actually fall into a category we study a lot in international relations theory. Specifically, Middle Eastern, Asian, and African immigrants come to Europe or the US, right? They come here to make a better life and appreciate the freedoms we offer. Their children, however, are born into the society; however, they don’t exactly fit. They’re not French, yet not Algerian. They’re not English, yet not Pakistani. They’re not Spanish, yet not Moroccan. SOME(very few) of these second-generation immigrants are left yearning for belonging, rejecting the society they are in. In this current global climate, al-Qaeda and radical Islam are the pop culture of the “Anti”–its cool to be part of it. Thus, many susceptible kids get radicalized and feel a closer bond to their “homelands” than their parents did. In fact, Europe’s Muslims are more radical (and, as a population, supported 9/11) in a FAR GREATER PERCENTAGE than any population in the Muslim world.

Switzerland is just trying to belong to the cool “jihadi” “anti-American” crowd because he doesn’t fit into Zurich’s nightlife or hates himself because he enjoys all the freedoms and opportunity of us westerners. Sad, actually.
