Oklahoma City Bombing [1995]

This photo is poignant because it sets up a Hollywood expectation - that the child has been saved. But as soon as you know the child is actually dead - well you see it with different eyes.

There are few photos in the world that show how horrific an event was with one shot, that speak to people more than any other photo. This happens to be one of them. Seeing the small child being carried by the Fire Fighter reaches out to us more than any other photo of that time.

I REMEMBER THE OKLAHOMA BOMBING VERY WELL; A GUY,TED ALLAN,THAT I GRADUATED WITH IN HIGH SCHOOL DIED IN THE BOMBING. THAT WAS A SAD DAY FOR ME.

This photo brings a tear to my eye. It’s very powerful.

Very touching photo…I cannot even imagine the agony that must be going through that firefighter’s mind…and not to mention everyone who was involved that day.

this photo shows emotion and that there are still people who love.

… it is not the point that she died. It is that this man went into a dangerous situation and pulled her out not knowing if she was dead or alive. I do recall this day very .. I was pregnant with my 1st and only daughter who now carries this same name as this little girl. Bailey Almond lives on and so does her memory and the memories of the others. A magazine with this picture was sitting in the waiting room and that is how my Baylee-Anne came to get her name. Out of RESPECT and compasion. This is a touching photo and one that is painful to see. Bailey Almond is some one who through this picture lives on as each day someone tells me or my 12 year old daughter how pretty her name is she tells this same story of how her name came to be…

i dont get it did the baby die?

This is one of the saddest photos. But it also is great because of all of the background and then it is as the firefighter can’t help but continue to hold on to the tiny infant.

I was so moved by this photo all those years ago, that i prayed to God that if he ever gave me another Daughter, i would honor this child’s life by naming her Baylee. I received that blessing nearly 8 years ago. Baylee Almon would be as old as my oldest daughter now, i often think of she might be like now.

This is sad I cried the first time I say the site I hope they find the guy that did this,
this makes me feel like we can’t protect our kids and families. Everytime I think about this bombing I want to cry because it makes me fear that this can happen
any other time once again it happened again but different situatian it was an airplane that caused 9/11 it was sad to but I just wonder what made them so mad that they just had to kill parents of kids or kids so the families can suffer.My feelings for this/these person/people that did this makes me wish that they died instead of the kids and others….Sorry to all the families who lost there loved ones and I want you to know that you can e-mail me if you need to talk I understand how you feel about losing your loved ones I’ll be here if you need me…

I was in the front page, scrolling around from the Afghan girl, to Einstein sticking out his tongue, to the Bliss wallpaper, and then I saw this.

You know when people write this brings tears to their eyes?

It’s not just for saying, because it’s PC.

It happened to me.

not really much to say, its all so real to me, i was less than 1 mile away when the bomb we off, its a feeling that went through my body that not many people will ever know, it did some damage to my building i was in, i thought about going there to help, but im glad i didnt, the picture your seeing now, is only 1 of many horrible sites seen by many, this whole expierence will be in my heart and thought 4 ever……i love OKC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My teacher went to see her chair in oklahoma it is very sad that the firefighter had to see a baby like that

I remember this horrific day, being a mother of four I can only begine to imagine the pain suffered by the families who lost loved ones . I pray that we will never have another Mc Veigh in this world.

This is a very powerful and touching picture. I was in labor that day. So when my daughter was coming into the world so many people lost theirs. I think of all the children that was loss in the bombing on my daughter birthday every year. God Bless You All that Loss Someone that DAY.

Did the baby make it?

this picture is so sad and it makes me want to cry just to see a baby suffer like that it kills me this is a very powerfull pic its horrofing so i dont know poor innocaent people they always end up paying the mistakes that some other stupid peoople do poor little angel

This picture has touched me. I have a one year old niece and this almost made me want to cry,but I can’t do that cuz I’m in my Journalism class. My condolences go out to her family.

i was 4 and my sister was 3, my sister had a ear sugrey and at the time my dad didnt know what was going cause all the doctors ran out. I really didnt know what happend cuser i was 4 so its pritty sad now that i think about it!

AND YES THE BABY DIED A FEW MINS LATER. I REMEMBER I WAS SIX YEARS OLD AND WHEN YOUR AT THAT AGE THINGS LIKE THAT DONT MEAN ANYTHING BUT YOU KNOW THAT DAY OPENED MY EYES AND EVEN IF I WAS JUST A LITTLE KID THATS SOMETHING ALWAYS I WILL HOLD WITH ME FOREVER AND I HOPE EVERYBODY ELSE DOES BECAUSE IT SURE AS HELL MEANS SOMETHING TO ME

A fellow coworker of mine said when she saw the firefighter and baby she was very saddened and told her mother if I ever have a daughter I’m going to name her Baylee in tribute to that precious little soul that was lost on that day. She now has a daughter and her name is Baylee.

Hey ppl. yeah i looked at this very depressing picture because that porr little girl that died, Baylee, i was named after her!!! it seems a few ppl were named after her but i am glad my name is Baylee. im proud of it! and as you know it happened in 1995 and that was the year i was born. in fact …it was a couple months before i was born!!! and im 12 now so yeah……just thot i would share that with the world!!!
