This picture was taken only a second before the japanese socialist Party leader Asanuma was assassinated by an right wing student. Photographer Yasushi Nagao said he was only on the right place and on the right time. He received a Pulitzer price for this photo.
When the assassin strikes him, he’s still wearing his glasses; he is knocked sideways by the killer’s full body strike. The photo captures his dying moments.

No, this picture was taken AFTER the stabbing of Asanuma.
According to the video, Asanuma was standing behind the podium when he was stabbed. Then the student, Otoya Yamaguchi, was pulled on the other side of Asanuma by the security when this picture was taken at 1 min 15 seconds according to the YouTube video.
Before Asanuma was stabbed, he was at the podium giving a speech until then, Otoya Yamaguchi ran up to him on Asanuma’s left side and stabbed him into the torso.

malumalu says:
Look at the assassin in the video right when he first struck Asanuma. He (the assassin) is wearing a pair of glasses. Only after the initial blow, the assassin’s glasses fell off, and as you seen in the picture, the assassin is NOT wearing glasses. So the picture was taken moments AFTER the strike.

Freedom lover: Socialism is the fastest and easiest way to take liberties away from free people. How very ironic.
Oh, yeah, Michael, you certainly don’t see anyone losing civil liberties in right-wing countries!
Either extreme of the political spectrum accepts murder as a legitimate way of dealing with opponents, and either will gladly limit civil liberties in pursuit of their goals. Both are equivalently immoral. Socialists are no more likely to limit civil liberties than the equivalent right-wing government.

Socialism like all forms of democratic collectivism is slavery to the majority, freedom lover. That you sympathize with nationalistic socialists who wish o control everything from your car to your wallet only shows your ignorance about classical liberal opposition to arbitrary and coercive authority at ALL levels and its relation to freedom.
Individualists unite. Strike the root, smash the state.

Anti-State says:
that people are still so ignorant of history and economic policy of world war 2 era Germany and Italy is no accident. The state deliberately attempts to make you confuse the facts: Fascism was socialist, and socialism is authoritarian.
Actually, fascism is not socialism. In socialism, everything is owned collectively. In fascism, everything is owned by the state. So, you see, there has never really been a truly ’socialist’ state in modern history, because they all turned out to be authoritarian regimes. George Orwell’s hatred of the USSR’s perversion of ’socialism’ is the reason he wrote the book ‘1984′.
Also, please note that fascists and socialists (the ones not in power, anyway) have never really gotten along. The best example of this is the way Hitler (an authoritarian fascist) treated German socialists in the 1930s: They were eventually thrown into death camps along with the Jews and other so-called ‘undesirables’.

Utopian B.S.
The state, in regard to socialism, is the representative of the people and is required.
When at the end of history, if such a thing could occur, according to Marx, politics will be irrelevant, the state will be irrelevant. Your claim of what is ‘real’ socialism requires that no government is needed and is completly utopian fantasy.
If we define socialism, in reality, it is an economic and social system where all property is owned by the community.
Who is the community? There is no entity called the community, the community is a group of individuals. Individuals can have disagreements, honest or not. Since individuals can have disagreements there has to be someone or something to represent to settle disputes and have the final word or to represent the majority of the people. On a local level this could be a judge or arbitor, but on a national level this entity is the state. Too say otherwise is to live in a utopian fantasy where all conflict and disagreement is removed. A fantasy world where humans are simple automatons who behave like ants and do their duty unquestioningly.
However, in reality, such is not the nature of the Human race. So reality demands that socialism has a state power, so it can not exist with out it.
Since that utopian fantasy can not exist, we can only accept state controlled socialism as it’s best representation. It has existed and it has failed over and over again.
Also, the fact some fascists hate some socialist is nothing more then seperate parties of influence fighting over the same resources. I’ll remind you of the fact that Nazi Germany and the USSR originally had a non-aggression pack. The pack broke because they both wanted control of the resources of the region, evidence of which goes with out saying for the Nazis… but proof of the USSR’s lust for control is evident in the expansion of their empire while fighting the Nazi’s back. Many of the nations they liberated became part of the USSR, or became, basically, soviet controlled.

socialism is not collective ownership of property it is collective ownership of the means of production which prevents people from profiting from simply owning.
PS:not all socialists follow the theorys of Marx, socialism is a very open ended idea and has been used to describe anything in between capitalism and communism.

Socialism does not equal communisim. Read up on the facets of each. Socialism still believes in full democracy rather than tyranny and voted government intervention. Social Security, Welfare, Medicare/Medicaid. All of these systems may be corrupt, but they were not ordered in place by a supreme authority. You really need to read about it.
