The ‘Second Great Fire of London is commemorated in a famous photograph taken from the roof of the Daily Mail building by Herbert Mason, in which the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral rises above clouds of black smoke.

  1. Awe inspiring. Reading Connie Willis books with time travelers (historians) who travel back and visit London during the blitz. Looked online for some photos of the time. This is amazing.

  2. an iconic picture ..words cannot describe it … the very soul of london untouched by evil. a tribute to all that suffered under the evil of war.

  3. More than a photograph; the very spiritual soul of London during the Blitz of WWII. Bombs fell all around, fires burned, but rising untouched, in the midst of it all, . . . well, that’s the picture.
